Legendary St. Louis radio personality J. C. Corcoran will debut a new morning show on Classic Rock 93.1 KBDZ-FM later this month.
Elmo Donze, President of Donze Communications, made the announcement this week.
"We are pleased to announce J. C. Corcoran and the morning showgram will be on the air from 6-9 am weekdays on The Classic Rock Station", he said.
Donze said he hopes the new morning show will begin on Monday, February 15th.
"We are awaiting some new equipment that will improve our sound and we hope to restore KBDZ to it's full 50,000 watt coverage area in the next week," he said.
Donze said the station covers a wide area of southeast Missouri and southern Illinois and over 70% of the St. Louis market and is also available online at classicrock931.com.
Corcoran will broadcast from his home studio in St. Louis to the station's studios in Perryville, Missouri. KBDZ transmits its signal from a 500-foot tower, near Weingarten, in Ste. Genevieve County, MO.
Listeners will be able to comment on the station's facebook at classicrock931.com.
"Yes, it's the bad boy of radio back on FM where he belongs and playing classic rock," he said.
Corcoran has a 31-year career in the St. Louis radio market and is currently on 590 the Fan, a sports talk station, from 11-1 pm weekdays. JC also does weekends on WLS AM in Chicago. He has worked on St. Louis TV and is a noted author.
"JC has often been controversial but he is very talented and has a huge following and we are excited to welcome him aboard," Donze said.
Word of the announcement broke on social media Monday night.
Over 17,000 page views, hundreds of likes and favorable comments were logged at one of Corcoran's facebook pages jconline.com after he revealed the new position.
A co-host is expected to join Corcoran in March.
Donze Communications also owns and operates KSGM AM 980 a Cardinal baseball affiliate.
